As we gather ... yes, gather ... with family to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, we can't help but feel like we are on top of the world!
Their dedication and love lights up this Thanksgiving day,
... and makes it possible for us to once again to start so many of our days feeling ''right at home'' with the family and friends.
''Home'' has a different meaning for us since we sold our ''sticks 'n bricks'' house six years ago and started traveling. In many ways, home has become even more precious to us ... because wherever we happen to be,
... home is that place where friends become family,
... and family becomes like a fine wine that improves with age.
I am so thankful for the chance to celebrate a milestone birthday this past May with my two sisters who made sure that I knew how much the ''oldest'' sister is loved.
We are thankful for all the adorable pets,
... and smiling faces who greet us and welcome us in.
We are thankful for time with sons and grand-puppies,
... and delightful ''adopted'' grandchildren that fill our lives with joy
and grow way too fast!
We are thankful for holiday gatherings with family,
... and impromptu backyard picnics that bring groups of our friends together.
We are thankful for ''homes'' by the lake,
... whether in the sun or rain.
We are thankful for kayaking,
... and tubing
... and sunset pontoon rides.
We are thankful for being able to cook up gourmet meals,
... and for being able to try a unique versions of local favorites. Maybe we need to spend more time in the south in order to convince ourselves that cheesy grits with baked beans and pepperoni is the perfect breakfast food!
We are thankful for the beautifully decorated doors that greet us in the morning,
... as well as God's magestic artistry that ends our days.
We are thankful for breakfasts with a smile,
... and happy hours served up by our favorite margarita mixologist.
We are thankful for being invited in to cheer on the local favorite in the World Series,
... or just relax and enjoy each other's company.
We are thankful for the country roads that lead us to
... those people who are so dear to us!
So as we arrive at our ''home'' in Florida,
... and I take over my mother-in-law's kitchen,
... we want to thank all our family and friends
for making us feel ''right at home'' whenever we pull in your driveway!
Happy Thanksgiving!
